The Himalayan Council of Scientific Research is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of the Himalayan region. By integrating insights from diverse disciplines, it aims to address the complex challenges and opportunities facing this unique ecosystem. The society employs a multidisciplinary research framework, incorporating perspectives from environmental science, social science, natural resource management, geology and geomorphology, cultural studies, economics, policy studies, and health and wellness.
The society’s objectives include facilitating knowledge sharing among academics, researchers, and students; fostering interdisciplinary research collaborations; informing policy decisions and sustainable development initiatives; and enhancing cooperation and capacity building.

The society’s audience encompasses academics, researchers, students, policy makers, practitioners, and local communities.

To disseminate knowledge, the Council utilizes various platforms, including conferences, workshops, seminars, webinars, research publications, policy briefs, and online forums. The society partners with universities and research institutions, government agencies, NGOs and community organizations, and international organizations to achieve its objectives.
